Club Azzurro: a stone cavern for well-being

Concentrating on the choice of soft parameters, the firm D73 (Vismara and Viganò) has re-qualified a sports centre by including a spa area among its services and characterising it with high-tech stone surfaces by Ariostea enhanced by grazing light from spotlights.
Marco Vismara and Andrea Viganò have a perceptive approach to projects for rooms and focus their attention on the way in which people interact with the place in which they “live”, in the more complete sense of the word. They pay special attention to projects having to do with wellness in which the correct perception of the surroundings is essential for creating a condition of wellbeing. They tackled the project for re-qualifying the Club Azzurro in Gazzada Schianno, in the province of Varese, starting out from the image and from the figurative references that the user would like to find when seeking physical and mental wellbeing.

Ultra-fine solid porcelain stoneware reproducing the best natural oak woods, with all the performance of the best porcelain stoneware for heavy-duty floor and wall coverings.
Ambition and technology in four brand new sizes: 15x120, 20x120, 30x120 and 10x60. Made strictly out of ground solid porcelain stoneware, they are Ariostea’s new wood finish porcelain stoneware tiles with their highly ambivalent character expressing both traditional taste and a forward-looking attitude.

The forms of nature for the baths at St. Martins

The spa at St. Martins is a project that fits into its natural surroundings, Seewinkel Nature Park in Burgenland, Austria, making its structure opening onto its surroundings into an intense homage to the landscape around it. In one of the area’s many hot spring swamps, characterised by sensational colours and a great variety of rare plants and animals, Holzbauer und Partner have built their project on a tongue of earth projecting out into the centre of a lake: designed as a spiral starting out from a core consisting of the swimming pool – the heart of all the activities taking place around it – it extends to embrace the landscape, which becomes part of the project itself. Used as both a spa and fitness centre, commonly associated nowadays in line with the trend towards simultaneous treatment of body and soul, the centre is well organised thanks to this big spiral or snail shape, which we immediately associate with the natural, archaic worlds of land and water, and turns out to be a form serving attentive distribution of the different spaces and activities organised at the centre.

OASIS of THE SEAS, the world's biggest cruise ship, has chosen ARIOSTEA

With its 18 decks and 2700 rooms and suites, Oasis of the Seas is the world’s biggest and most revolutionary cruise ship, a splendid floating city capable of hosting more than 5400 passengers.
Commissioned by the US cruise operator Royal Caribbean and built in Finland by Aker Yards of Turku (now STX Europe), this masterpiece of naval architecture was launched in December 2008 and made its maiden voyage exactly one year later.

After years of planning, study and calculation involving the world’s greatest experts, the vessel, considered an unrivalled masterpiece of innovation, is now carrying thousands of tourists to the most beautiful destinations in the Caribbean.

This marvel of the seas cost more than 1 billion 200 million dollars to build and features 7 enormous theme areas amazing passengers with their majestic interiors and attractions. These include the Boardwalk, an enchanting open-air walkway built to look like a Mediterranean village; the Aquatheater, the world’s first seagoing amphitheatre, for water shows; Central Park, a spectacular garden inspired by the park of the same name in Manhattan, featuring luxuriant tropical plants and quiet pathways. And finally, the Royal Promenade, at the heart of the ship, with its shops, restaurants and entertainments, a true high fashion luxury shopping and entertainment district.

Paris Boutique - Interview with architect Duccio Grassi

February 4 saw the successful inauguration of the Ariostea Boutique on Paris’ central Rue de la Pepiniere: a particularly prestigious showroom presenting Ariostea’s most exclusive collections to the city of Paris and all of France.

Conceived and designed by DUCCIO GRASSI ARCHITECTS of Reggio Emilia, the highly refined Boutique is a masterpiece of order, apparent simplicity, cleanliness and completeness.

The interiors of the Carpi Palaspace offer an example of the importance of cladding in determining a buildingís personality: playing with strong and dark colours and with light graduated hues, the stone surfaces define the way space is used and set up a relationship of dialogue with the public.

The concept underlying the design of the interiors of the Carpi Palaspace, the biggest fitness centre and spa in the province of Modena, might be summed up as ìsober wellnessî. Starting with an existing complex, Ariosteaís design office focused on interpretation of the interior environment, using floor and wall coverings as expressive elements contributing personality in the interior.

Opening Iris Group boutique Ariostea Paris, February 4th, 2010

We’re in the 8th arrondissement, a well-known upper-class neighbourhood in Paris with its Grands Boulevards, Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile and L'Opera, to mention only a few of the places best known to visitors. On February 4 2010 we will open a new showroom in this prestigious setting, in the central Rue de la Pépinière.

Duccio Grassi Architects of Reggio Emilia designed a showroom for Ariostea based on the concept of the prestigious Paris “boutique” to present Ariostea’s most exclusive collections in France.
The showroom is set up on the basis of an elegant and apparently simple style, in white and grey without any superfluous materials. The elements used to display products are sliding retractable and niche panels, labstations and built-in chests of drawers, all designed to be elegant and practical.
